Parry Agius heads Agius Consulting Services a boutique consultancy practice which specialises in supporting Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, groups and enterprises to do business together; this includes promoting Aboriginal entrepreneurship in commerce. Currently he is studying his Master Business Administration at The University of Adelaide and as of April 2015 is the inaugural President of the Aboriginal Business Industry Chamber of South Australia (ABICSA).
Since its inception in 2012 Agius Consulting Services has focused on the provision of culturally appropriate community consultation and engagement processes and in leading projects that deliver real economic, cultural and social benefits. For example, one of his current projects is Mentoring four Doctors who are attaining the GP practice Fellowship accreditation working in an Aboriginal Health Service in Adelaide.
Parry brings a visionary, transformative and principled approach along with an outstanding reputation and network of contacts across private industry, government and community organisations. Parry is also an Accredited Partnership Broker with the UK’s Overseas Development Institute and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Director’s Course, has a Bachelor of Art in Aboriginal Affairs Administration and is an Honorary Associate Faculty of Science, Macquarie University.
Parry is an inspiring and motivating leader and encourage people to enjoy what they do in the workplace; accept accountability for and ownership of their work, the environment they work in, and realize the importance of relationships with all stakeholders.
Parry use the power of words to inspire people, earn the respect of peers and lead by example. He is very adept at setting a clear vision and encouraging change and innovation through collaborative brainstorming and group action. Parry has the proven ability to drive strategic change in a complex and dynamic environments.
As the Principal Consultant with Agius Consulting, Parry brings over 20 years of strong networks, broad policy and organisational governance as both a CEO and Board Chair to the table along with a proven ability to lead major ongoing corporate contracts.
Parry has an imaginative mind, possess well-developed strategic thinking skills, and enjoy being an originator, supported with a very comprehensive network and positive relationships with Aboriginal leaders, government and non-government organisations. Parry is an engaging, insightful and collaborative leader and is highly sought after as a Board Chair, Board Member and Independent Advisor for government, corporate, statutory, advisory and Indigenous forums and boards.
Parry was an extraordinarily successful CEO in the highly contentious and politicised area of native title. His ability to move groups from conflict to collaboration not only created positive relationships amongst Indigenous and non-Indigenous groups whilst delivering real economic, social and cultural outcomes, it resulted in the unique result of South Australia as the only jurisdiction with no extinguishment of native title. Recognition of Parry’s exemplary skills in cross cultural dispute resolution has seen him appointed as a Sessional Commissioner with the South Australian Environment, Resources and Development Court and as a Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Federal Court of Australia, Victorian Government’s Right People for Country Project during 2014.
As the first Aboriginal person in South Australia to secure a Winston Churchill Fellowship Parry is a trailblazer and has established a diverse range of groups and bodies to support the advancement of Aboriginal interests in South Australia and beyond.
